Luthiery, or Violin Restoration Services
After completing a decade long apprenticeship and continuing my work studying and conserving historical musical instruments, I strive to ensure that musical instruments are restored to perfect playing condition.
Early-American string instruments are one of my personal favorites to work on, along with bow rehairs and restoration.

Rates
My hourly rate for restoration work is $100 per hour.
An invoice and conservation report will be provided upon the completion of a job.
Bow rehairs start at $60

Stabilization of the top while conserving historical repairs on a late 18th century transitional violin. This violin was played by George Weld (1791-1876) at Guilford Connecticut.

This original baroque violin, made by Nathan Moody at Newbury Massachusetts in 1787 is the oldest American-made violin in public circulation. It is also the oldest playable American-made violin.
It was meticulously restored by Tom Vaughn in 2022.

Bows
Violin family bows are my personal favorite to work on! I pride myself in rehairing bows using traditional methods, meaning no adhesives or synthetic are materials used. My rehair jobs rely on the perfect fitting of blocks and proper alignment/orientation of the horsehair. I specialize in the restoration and rehairing of historical and baroque bows.
Standard bow rehairs start at $60. Additional work such as straightening warping, frog repair/replacement, etc. follows the standard hourly rate.
